Waters Advanced Diagnostic is seeking a Scientist II – Microbiology to contribute to the development and validation of cutting‑edge microbiology and molecular diagnostic solutions in a regulated, high‑volume environment. You will work on integrated systems including BACTEC, Kiestra, COR, Phoenix, MAX and Synapsys, coordinating with cross‑functional teams to deliver robust diagnostic solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Medical Technology, or a related field is required.
• Minimum of 2 years of hands‑on experience in a clinical microbiology laboratory, specifically bacteriology benchwork; familiarity with molecular technologies is a plus.
• Solid understanding of clinical microbiology principles and laboratory practices.
• Strong laboratory skills including experimental design, data analysis, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with standard software tools (Excel, Word, databases).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with BACTEC, Kiestra, COR, Phoenix, MAX and Synapsys, and similar diagnostic platforms is a strong plus.
• Experience with validation documentation is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Apply clinical microbiology expertise to ensure products meet real‑world customer needs.
• Design and execute laboratory experiments with minimal oversight to support product development and validation.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with R&D Engineering, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Affairs, and Service to improve diagnostic solutions.
• Author and review technical documentation, including validation protocols.
• Support troubleshooting efforts and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Stay current with advancements in clinical microbiology and related technologies.
