Job summary

The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State is seeking highly motivated Mechanical Engineers to join the SHARP department on a fully on-site basis in State College, PA, with periodic travel to remote locations. This role focuses on developing solutions for maintenance and manufacturing in a defense-oriented, shipyard/depot environment.

You will work across design analyses, modeling, testing, and reporting, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to technical papers and proposals to

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science required.
• 5+ years of relevant experience (or as per level).
• Eligibility to obtain government security clearance; U.S. citizen status.
• Experience in multi-disciplinary teams and in a field environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist or manage concept development and participate in design analyses.
• Lead specific tasks within project scope and collaborate with researchers.
• Publish papers, proposals, and reports; present as necessary.
• Conduct R&D activities to solve DoD and national security challenges.
• Plan, perform, and lead analyses including modeling, simulations, and experiments.
