Job summary

ZIEHL-ABEGG is seeking an R&D Mechanical Engineer in the United States to drive mechanical design and prototype support. You will create and update 3D models, generate drawings, and assist with prototype build-ups for testing and verification.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Design Engineering, strong CAD skills (Creo preferred), and the ability to work independently within project teams. Excellent problem-solving and attention to detail are essential for this position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Design Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Professional experience in mechanical design or a closely related field
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD tools; experience with PTC Creo preferred
• Collaborate across disciplines and work well in project-based environments
• Independent work with high responsibility and awareness of business impact
• Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Proactive with ability to meet targets and deadlines

Responsibilities

• Develop new designs and modify existing 3D models in our CAD system
• Create and update technical drawings and bills of materials
• Design prototypes considering manufacturing tolerances and production feasibility
• Prepare, assemble, and support build-up of samples for testing
• Ensure compliance with mechanical requirements by coordinating resources
• Prepare documentation including declarations of conformity and risk assessments
• Plan and analyze mechanical measurements and test results
• Explain measurement results to internal stakeholders and customers
• Analyze measurement data and prepare reports and executive summaries
• Specify, review, and evaluate second-source components
• Assist with other duties as assigned
