Job summary

ZEISS seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design and build part-holding fixtures for customer solutions. You will collaborate across Engineering, Automation, and Sales to define fixtures, develop detailed designs and drawings, and create prototypes using in-house or external vendors.

Proficiency in SolidWorks and GD&T is required, with a strong emphasis on manufacturing best practices and cost-effective end items. A valid US driver's license and willingness to travel up to 30% are expected.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent work experience.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar) and in designing mechanical parts and assemblies.
• Strong knowledge of CAD standards, GD&T, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• General mechanical aptitude.
• Attention to detail; reliable and dependable.
• Proficient oral and written communication; professional demeanor.
• Team player; flexible and willing to help others.
• Travel up to 30%.
• Must have a valid US driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Gain knowledge to design and build fixtures meeting project requirements.
• Analyze teams to define fixtures and create detailed designs and drawings.
• Develop prototypes using in-house additive manufacturing or outside vendors.
• Apply Design for Manufacturing to produce cost-effective end items.
• Develop CAD best practices and update design function database.
• Define scope of work and conduct solution design reviews with customers.
• Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices and standards.
