Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM seeks a highly motivated R&D Mechanical Engineer to develop and produce high reliability magnetics components for national security applications. You will coordinate test activities, document design data, and work with suppliers and internal teams on component performance in challenging environments.

The role requires on-site work, a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, and the ability to obtain a DOE Q clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent education/experience demonstrating independent research and development capability.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with customers to understand requirements and design constraints.
• Document engineering decisions, test data, and design definitions.
• Coordinate with technologists to set up tests and collect data.
• Interface with product development, test facilities, suppliers, and quality engineers.
• Analyze, document and present data on component performance.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams in the design of custom electronic components.
• Perform failure analyses.
