Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking a highly driven R&D Mechanical Engineer to join a dynamic team focused on cargo restraint design for high-security assets. Responsibilities include development, analysis, and integration of cargo restraints and tie-downs for transporting critical assets.

The role requires Creo/SolidWorks experience, FEA tooling, and Windchill PDMLink, with opportunities to collaborate with cross-functional teams and travel as needed. On-site work is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent engineering/science experience.
• Active DOE Q clearance or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Use engineering principles and CAD tools to research, design or develop complex hardware sets for cargo securement.
• Troubleshoot existing tie-down schema and update as needed.
• Design, analyze and realize new tie-down schema for cargo fixtures and transportation.
• Collaborate with SMEs and teams to ensure successful transportation missions.
• Present concepts, designs, and data to management and team members.
• Provide on-site or remote support for secure transportation events.
