Neuralink's Next Gen team is seeking an R&D Materials Engineer intern to collaborate with scientists and engineers, develop new materials, perform benchtop testing, and help advance implant technology. You will design test fixtures, characterize materials and interfaces, troubleshoot experiments, and communicate findings clearly in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in Materials/Engineering fields related to devices.
• 2+ years of academic or industry experience.
• Strong understanding of scientific method and engineering principles.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to development of next-generation microelectrode materials with the microfabrication team.
• Develop electrode-tissue interface solutions to enhance sensitivity and longevity.
• Perform materials characterization and surface chemistry experiments on candidate materials.
• Design and fabricate custom test fixtures for new experiments.
• Execute established protocols and design new experiments as needed.
• Troubleshoot, iterate, and clearly communicate findings.
