Qualifications

  • Full-Time: Minimum Associates degree in science, engineering, math, or equivalent combination of education and experience Or Co-Op: Enrolled in an engineering bachelors degree program with a school-supported engineering co-op program
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an engineering or life sciences lab & product development environment or academic lab.
  • Hands-on skills using test equipment and reagent formulation practices.
  • Working knowledge of electromechanical components.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create test plans, procedures and reports associated with development studies and formal design verification activities.
  • Formulate and assemble reagent based biosensor disposables to support internal product testing and external pilot studies.
  • Perform data collection and data analysis using common statistical methods.
  • Interface with our database system to update and improve data accumulation.
  • Implement lab upgrades and conduct general day to day upkeep.
  • Ensure safe lab practices and maintain good laboratory practices.
  • Provide preliminary interpretation of results and present appropriate conclusions.
  • Conduct verification testing on mechanical, chemical and electronic components per instructions.
  • Design and construct test fixtures and setups for verification activities.
  • Diagnose product problems and communicate findings clearly to team.
  • Maintain complex test equipment including calibration and preventive maintenance.
  • Organize appointments with phlebotomy organizations and communicate with subjects in IRB-compliant manner.
  • Provide regular status reports on assigned tasks.

Job description

Abram Scientific is a startup company, located in Menlo Park, CA that is dedicated to creating fast hemostasis information for point-of-care use, to improve patient outcomes in surgical, emergency rooms or trauma centers.

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Laboratory Associate position. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing daily activities to support the R&D Department.

Responsibilities include, conducting verification testing, assembling product disposable test units, maintaining equipment in a cGMP lab environment, producing documentation such as test plans, procedures and reports. Candidates applying to this position must keep in mind that all work is on-site in Menlo Park, CA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Create test plans, procedures and reports associated with development studies and formal design verification activities.
  • Formulate and assemble reagent based biosensor disposables to support internal product testing and external pilot studies.
  • Perform data collection (using whole blood samples and quality controls), and data analysis, using common statistical methods.
  • Interface with our database system to update and improve data accumulation.
  • Implement lab upgrades and conduct general day to day upkeep.
  • Ensure that safe lab practices are employed and good laboratory practices are maintained.
  • Provide preliminary interpretation of results and present appropriate conclusions in a clear and concise format.
  • Conduct verification testing on a variety of mechanical, chemical and electronic components in accordance with written and/or verbal instructions from Senior Team members.
  • Design and construct test fixtures and setups associated with design verification activities.
  • Diagnose product problems using a methodical approach and clearly communicate findings to team members.
  • Maintain complex test equipment, including scheduling necessary calibration and preventative maintenance.
  • Organize appointments with phlebotomy organizations in tandem with testing as well as communication with subjects in compliance with IRB practices.
  • Provide regular status reports on assigned tasks.
Qualifications and Experience

  • Ability to make sound technical decisions and complete tasks with limited supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experienced with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and other office productivity software.
  • This position will involve repetitive work utilizing a laboratory equipment, computer, keyboard, and mouse 70% of the time.
  • The position will require occasional lifting of objects up to 60lbs with assistance.
