Job summary

Vitro Architectural Glass seeks a Laboratory Technician to support its Vacuum Coatings Product Development Group in Cheswick, PA. The role focuses on executing experiments and evaluating coated glass samples in an industrial R&D setting.

You will perform measurements, data entry, documentation, and occasional equipment maintenance, with travel to manufacturing facilities as needed. Strong organizational and safety awareness are essential.

Qualifications

• HS/GED with 5 years relevant laboratory experience or AS degree plus 1 year lab experience
• Bachelor of Science in a science field preferred; candidate should be able to learn quickly
• Adherence to safe work practices and environmental, health, safety, and security protocols
• Proven ability to work in a team and maintain organized records
• Strong data entry and data interpretation skills in spreadsheets/reports

Responsibilities

• Process coated glass samples (cutting, labeling, heating)
• Measure physical properties (mechanical, thermal, spectral) and evaluate sample quality
• Perform chemical/environmental durability testing on coated glass
• Enter data into spreadsheets and create charts/plots
• Document procedures, results and data in electronic lab notebook
• Assist with deposition of thin films using vacuum coating equipment
• Maintain and repair vacuum coating equipment
• Support other personnel with testing and sample handling
• Possibly travel to manufacturing facilities for testing
