Job summary

Vitro Architectural Glass, based in Cheswick, PA, seeks a Laboratory Technician for the Vacuum Coatings Product Development Group to support R&D and customer testing.

You will process coated glass, measure mechanical, spectral, and electrical properties, enter data, and help write reports. Some travel to manufacturing facilities may be required.

Candidates should have HS/GED with lab experience or AS/BS in physics, engineering, or materials science, with strong safety and documentation practices.

Qualifications

• HS/GED plus 5 years relevant laboratory experience.
• AS degree in closely related field plus 1-year relevant laboratory experience.
• BS degree in science field (physics, engineering, materials science, chemistry, electronics, mechatronics).
• Adherence to safe work practices and environmental, health, safety, and security protocols.

Responsibilities

• Process coated glass samples (cutting, labeling, heating).
• Measure mechanical, thermal, spectral, ellipsometric, and electrical properties.
• Conduct chemical/environmental durability tests and interpret results.
• Enter data into spreadsheets, plot charts, and interpret results.
• Document procedures, results, and data in electronic lab notebook; write test reports.
