Responsibilities

  • Prepare titration solutions and change utility gases.
  • Maintain and operate standard lab equipment: GC, pH meters, balances, densitometers, vacuum pumps.
  • Manage lab samples and dispose of waste safely.

Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory tests to produce reliable and precise data supporting scientific investigations.
  • Observe and maintain safety requirements.
  • Perform non-routine lab analyses as required.
  • Carry out routine laboratory tasks accurately, following strict methodologies.
  • Observe proper lab housekeeping practices.
  • Prepare basic titration solutions.
  • Change utility gases.
  • Maintain lab samples and dispose of waste safely and effectively.
  • Maintain and operate standard laboratory equipment: Titrators pH meters Balances Densitometers Sample cylinders (cleaning, purging, replacing quick connects and valves) Vacuum pumps.
  • Use analytical techniques and instrumentation: Gas chromatographs (GCs) with liquid and gas sample valves GCs with autosamplers GCs with manual injection Total nitrogen and sulfur analyzers.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Basic understanding on analytical chemistry.
  • Mechanically inclined with strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills together with the ability to effectively manage project deliverables.
  • Math and statistical analysis.
  • Computer skills – Chromatography Data System (CDS), laboratory information management systems (LIMS), spreadsheets, word processing, graphic presentation generation.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to work independently or in a team-based environment.
  • Persuasive communication skills.
  • Effective email/vocal communication.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2-year Technical Associate Science Degree required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in a lab setting.
  • Minimum 1 year of wastewater treatment.
  • Must have working knowledge of GCs.
  • Must have knowledge of standardized methodology – ASTM, UOP, IFP, etc.
  • Able to learn new analytical instrumentation, as necessary.
  • Ability to work shift schedules.
