Job summary

1440 Foods is seeking an experienced R&D Product Development Laboratory Technician II to join the Innovation & Business Continuity team. You will execute complex benchtop formulations, scale up batches, conduct tests, and run basic equipment diagnostics to support pilot and plant trials for high-quality, consumer-preferred products.

The role requires strong technical judgment, attention to detail, and collaboration across departments.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a science field (Food Science, Culinology, Chemistry, Biology or related)
• 2-4 years of hands-on laboratory experience, preferably in CPG or nutritional foods (bars, powders, RTDs)

Responsibilities

• Execute laboratory and product development activities with moderate independence, aligning with the R&D Manager and Product Development Scientists
• Conduct testing and technical validation (stability, sensory, analytical, shelf-life studies) and maintain lab equipment diagnostics
• Document formulation and process data and summarize trends in technical reports and plant trial summaries
• Lead batch scale-up activities and support qualification and plant trials
• Troubleshoot processing and formulation issues with documented findings and proposed solutions
• Support ingredient evaluations and prepare samples for sensory panels and cross-functional meetings
• Assist engineers and product developers with workflow optimizations and lab efficiency initiatives
• Collaborate with Quality, Regulatory, Procurement and Operations to ensure timely project execution
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized lab following good laboratory practices
• Stay informed on ingredient innovations and emerging category trends
