Job summary

Spring Meadow Nursery Inc. in Grand Haven, MI seeks an R&D Production Intern for the 2027 season. The role combines laboratory work, flow cytometry, tissue culture, and hands-on plant breeding tasks to support seed lots subject to polyploidy-inducing treatments.

The intern will collect tissue samples, record data in Excel, and assist with micropropagation and breeding activities, reporting to the Laboratory and Plant Breeding team.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a plant science-related field or have 1-2 years of related work experience.
• Must be able to follow written instructions for SOPs and laboratory procedures.
• Strong computer skills for data entry into Excel and navigation of CyPad programming.

Responsibilities

• Laboratory Work: Flow Cytometry data collection and processing.
• Tissue Culture: prepare media and micropropagation.
• Plant Breeding: hand-pollinations, pollen collection, and seed processing.
