Job summary

RBC Bearings is seeking a PhD-level R&D engineer specializing in hydraulic systems and acoustics. You will support development, testing, diagnosis, and improvement of hydraulic products and prototypes, collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, and product management.

The role emphasizes lab and field testing, data analysis, and technical communication, with a focus on reducing noise, vibration, and improving dynamic behavior of hydraulic systems.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Mechanical, Acoustical, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• Strong understanding of fluid power systems, dynamics, vibration, acoustics or related discipline.
• Experience with experimental testing and troubleshooting of complex systems.
• Experience acquiring, processing, and analyzing engineering data.
• Hands-on mechanical aptitude demonstrated through projects.
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and execute laboratory and field testing of hydraulic components and systems.
• Develop and validate hydraulic models to support product development.
• Interpret and create hydraulic schematics and P&IDs per ANSI standards.
• Configure data acquisition systems and test instrumentation.
• Analyze test data and correlate with models and theory.
• Prepare technical reports and design documentation.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and product management.
