Job summary

Bayer in Ankeny, Iowa seeks a Research and Development Specialist II for the 3rd shift to drive high-throughput genotyping, validate methods, and ensure data quality. You will collaborate with a lab team to optimize processes, maintain safety and compliance, and support end-to-end workflows in a dynamic R&D environment.

The role requires a life science degree, strong data/automation aptitude, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology, chemistry, engineering or another life science field.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to overcome challenges, take initiative and deliver high-quality results while following safety protocols.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and timelines.

Responsibilities

• Meet daily and weekly genotyping objectives while delivering high‑quality data.
• Operate and troubleshoot high‑throughput lab automation technologies.
• Support end‑to‑end genotyping workflows across platforms and processes.
• Design experiments and validate methods using multiple data sources.
• Maintain records and ensure safety, quality, and compliance in all activities.
• Provide training and guidance to colleagues and coordinate tasks within a large team.
