Abbott is seeking a Senior R&D Engineer to join our Plymouth, MN site on a 12-month, 100% onsite assignment. The role requires 6+ years of related experience and a Bachelor’s degree, focusing on development of medical device products and adherence to corporate policies.

Responsibilities include designing, analyzing, and guiding cross-functional teams through product development, feasibility studies, and documentation.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of related work experience with a complete understanding of the specified functional area.

Responsibilities

• Providing technical support in the creation and development of new medical device products.
• Ensuring compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.
• Researching, developing, designing, and evaluating mechanical and electro-mechanical materials, components, assemblies, processes and/or equipment.
• Performing analysis and/or interviews to determine requirements and constraints of the system.
• Analyzing user needs and providing input to stakeholders.
• Conducting feasibility studies to verify capability and functionality.
• Developing new concepts from initial design to market release.
• Directing support personnel and coordinating project activities.
• Writing and submitting intellectual property (patents).
• Maintaining detailed documentation throughout all phases of research and development.
• Reviewing or coordinating vendor activities to support development.
• Researching various cost-effective, alternative approaches to current processes.
