Job summary

Broadcom software’s Mainframe Software Division (MSD) seeks a Software Engineer to design, implement, test and support high-quality Mainframe Database solutions. You will join the Mainframe Datacom team in Plano, TX, collaborating in an Agile environment to deliver robust software meeting user needs and business goals.

You will be involved in development, reviews, sprint activities, and customer interactions to gather feedback and improve product quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Engineering and 5+ years of related experience; postgraduate coursework or Masters may be desirable.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and translate business requirements and write high quality, testable code that meets the Agile Definition of Done.
• Participate in design and code reviews with other engineers.

Broadcomsoftware Broadcom’s Mainframe Software Division (MSD) is looking for a talented and motivated Software Engineer with a passion for building high quality applications using agile practices to join our Mainframe Datacom team. In this role, you will be a key member of the development team and will focus on building, testing, and supporting leading edge Mainframe Database solutions used by many of the world’s largest companies. We are looking for an engineer who is highly motivated, team oriented and has excellent organization and problem-solving skills. The individual and team goal will be to develop and maintain high-quality software aligned with user needs and business objectives.

Work Location for this position is in our Plano, TX office.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively within an Agile Team to analyze and translate business requirements and write high quality, testable code that meets the Agile Definition of Done.
• Participate in design and code reviews with other engineers.
• Actively participate and contribute in all Agile activities: Iteration planning, refinement, and sprint reviews.
• Volunteer for and commit to delivering stories and tasks within the sprint.
• Actively communicate and collaborate within the team and across functional boundaries.
• Drive opportunities to increase efficiency, security, and product quality through best practices.
• Interact with customers for support issues, demonstrations, and feedback sessions.

Requirements

• Bachelors in Engineering and 5+ years of related experience; at this level postgraduate coursework may be desirable or Masters degree and 3+ years of related experience.
• Typically, 3 or more years of experience in mainframe software development or a related field.
• Experience in Agile Software Development.
• Knowledge of Source Code Controls such as Endevor and Github.
• Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
• Open to learning new technologies and languages, following new trends, and continuous innovation.

Desired Mainframe Technical Skills & Experience

• Solid knowledge of z/OS, Unix/USS, SMP/E, z/OSMF, Endevor, reading system dumps, TSO/ISPF.
• Additional experience in one or more of the following languages: IBM Assembler, Metal C, COBOL, ISPF, REXX, and JCL.
• Knowledge and related product expertise in one or more of the following: Test Automation, Jenkins, Python, CI/CD Automation.
• Other Desired Experience Exposure to designing and building RESTful APIs.
• Expertise in one or more of the following languages: Java, C/C++.
• Expertise in relational databases.
• Good Knowledge in Agile tools like Jira and Rally.
• Familiar with QA and DevOps concepts and practices such as test automation, CI/CD etc.
• Experience with Blackduck, Coverity, zACS tools.
• Experience with Cyber Security and Compliance related topics.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is USD 74,000.00 To USD 118,800.00.
