Job summary

Scientific Applications & Research Associates, Inc. (SARA) in Cypress, CA, seeks a Research and Development Engineer to join the AP​​TA division.

This hands-on role blends lab work with prototype development on RF, optics, and embedded algorithms for government and commercial programs. Requirements include a Bachelor's in engineering, 0–5 years of experience, and the ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance; candidates must be able to operate in a lab environment and teamwork across diverse

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline with GPA 3.5 or higher.
• 0 to 5 years applicable experience.
• Ability to assemble and manipulate small electronic and mechanical assemblies and use lab equipment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office tool suite.
• US citizen with ability to obtain DoD Top Secret clearance.
• May require lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Indoor, moderately loud, well-lit and ventilated environment.

Responsibilities

• Creating and maintaining comprehensive project documentation.
• Developing and refining engineering skills in lab/workshop settings.
• Collaborating with Functional Management to ensure training and tasking continuity.
• Designing, fabricating, assembling, integrating and testing prototype or low-rate production systems.
• Supporting and embracing program leadership directions.
• Performing experiments and analyses to demonstrate feasibility.
