Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in Los Alamos, NM seeks an R&D Engineer at Level 1 or 2 to support the Weapon Systems Engineering division. The role involves coordinating with DoD partners, developing training tools, and enabling stockpile maintenance through engineering procedures.

Onsite work with travel to partner sites is expected. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's in Engineering and related experience; higher level requires more independence and leadership.

Qualifications

• Engineering knowledge and applied experience in researching, designing, testing, analyzing, verifying, and validating solutions.
• Experience or coursework in engineering design, fabrication, manufacturing, additive manufacturing, CAD, static analysis, or design optimization.
• Clear communication skills demonstrated orally and in writing.
• Teamwork and collaboration across internal and external stakeholders.
• Commitment to safety and detail in a nuclear weapons context.

Responsabilités

• Coordinate LANL positions on unresolved reports and technical publications with stakeholders.
• Interface with military and external partners regarding weapon fielding, component exchanges, and DoD/DOD interactions.
• Support WESTEC training by developing weapon trainers and models with engineering teams and machine shops.
• Travel as needed, primarily to Kirtland AFB, for collaborations with partners.
