Job summary

Penn State University’s Applied Research Lab (ARL) seeks a motivated Research and Development Engineer Intern to assist across the Materials Science Division. The internship offers hands-on work in gear train technology, additive manufacturing, powder processing, cold spray manufacturing, robotics, testing, modeling and simulation, and characterization.

The successful candidates will work up to 20 hours per week during fall and spring and 40 hours/week in summer, with the position located

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Materials Science & Engineering or related field.
• Interest in materials synthesis and device fabrication.
• Willingness to contribute to research across gear train technology, additive manufacturing and testing.
• Active eligibility for programs like DoD SkillBridge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with material synthesis and device fabrication tasks.
• Support process simulation for fabrication and modeling activities.
• Contribute to development of advanced materials and material systems.
• Support testing, characterization and data analysis activities.
