Los Alamos National Security LLC seeks early to mid-career engineers in the Automation, Robotics and Controls Group (E-3) to design, develop, and deploy control systems for robotics and data acquisition in support of LANL mission. Roles available at R&D Engineer 1 or 2, with responsibilities expanding at the higher level.

The Automation, Robotics and Controls Group (E-3) is a multidisciplinary engineering organization that provides controls, robotics, and data acquisition solutions to a wide variety of applications to meet the Los Alamos National Laboratory Mission. E-3's capabilities include the design, development, fabrication, and deployment of custom electronics and control systems including mobile robotics, industrial manipulators, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design, and firmware/software development.
E-3 is looking for motivated early to mid-career engineers to work closely with a diverse team of engineers, scientists, technologists, and technicians on electronics design and development for robotics, controls, and data acquisition systems that support the LANL mission. Successful candidates will contribute to a variety of projects depending upon relevant skillsets.
At this level, you will work under the direction of senior staff members to contribute to system design and execution of projects related to one of the technical disciplines listed below. As an R&D Engineer 1, you will be expected to contribute to technical efforts as directed by more senior staff members as well as develop your technical skills and abilities to meet the group's needs.
In addition to the responsibilities outlined at Level 1, you will provide technical leadership for junior engineers as well as be expected to independently execute technical projects working directly with outside organizations according to relevant skillsets.
Experience contributing to technical engineering efforts as a member of a collaborative team with the ability to communicate work progress towards shared milestones and deliverables. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively as part of a larger technical team.
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution related to the occupation combined with 2 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and technical experience directly related to the occupation.

The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
