Job summary

nVent’s R&D Designer Internship offers hands‑on experience in mechanical design and drafting. You will create 2D drawings and 3D CAD models using SolidWorks, while learning manufacturing‑driven details and revision control under experienced engineers.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Drafting, Mechanical Design, CAD Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related degree program.
  • Completed introductory coursework in CAD, technical drawing, or mechanical design.
  • Basic experience with SolidWorks or a similar 3D CAD system.
  • Ability to read and understand basic mechanical drawings.
  • Understanding of basic drafting concepts such as dimensions, orthographic views, and section views.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with others.
  • A willingness to ask questions, accept feedback, and take on new challenges.

Responsibilities

R&D Designer Internship

R&D Designer Internship provides hands‑on experience developing mechanical design and drafting skills while supporting real-world product development. This position is ideal for a student pursuing a degree in mechanical drafting, mechanical design, CAD technology, mechanical engineering technology, or a related field. Working alongside experienced engineers and designers, you will gain practical experience creating drawings, models, and engineering documentation while learning how products move from concept to manufacturing.

You Have
