Job summary

HORIBA is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist (R&D Machinist) to join our onsite Reno team. You'll work with engineers to prototype parts, optimize designs, and tackle challenging machining issues with precision craftsmanship.

In this role, you’ll perform CNC setup, operation, and programming on complex parts, read drawings, and select tooling. Travel to nearby Reno-area facilities may be required to support projects.

Qualifications

• Must have CNC setup, operation and programming experience.
• Ability to read manufacturing drawings and determine tooling and machining strategy.
• Comfort with tight tolerances and exotic materials.
• Familiarity with measuring equipment and inspection techniques.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering teams to prototype parts and improve designs.
• Set up, program, and operate CNC machines for complex parts.
• Interpret drawings and select appropriate tooling and processes.
• Support travel to Reno-area facilities as needed.

What You'll Bring to the Machine

• You've spent a few years honing your machining craft and are ready to take the next step in your career.
• You know your way around complex machining projects and can determine the best path from print to finished part.
• You have experience with CNC setup, operation, and programming.
• Tight tolerances, exotic materials, and precision work are where you do your best work.
• You can read manufacturing drawings and quickly begin thinking through setup, tooling, and machining strategy.
• You're comfortable using a variety of machine tools, measuring equipment, and inspection techniques.
• You're able to support occasional local travel between our Reno-area facilities.
• You understand that innovation doesn't always happen between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM and can provide flexibility when projects require it.
