Job summary

The Sherwin-Williams Company is seeking a motivated individual to join the GSC R&D Colorant Strategy team in Brecksville, OH. You will work on colorant dispersions, raw materials, and product development, including formulation, testing, and application of colorant dispersion and paint products.

Responsibilities include communicating findings in written reports and collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring products to market. Travel up to 10% is required per the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM required.
• Basic knowledge of statistics and data analysis.
• Must be able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to determine the difference between colors.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities

• Apply dispersion/paint formulation knowledge to product development.
• Support R&D labs to evaluate, generate and confirm colorant formulas.
• Batch-making and testing including weighing, mixing, pouring, tinting, drawing down and evaluating.
• Communicate with team, manufacturing and support groups to ensure successful commercialization of products; use internal networks.
• Develop knowledge of product lines and colorant systems.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects to benefit the group and company.
• Written documentation and verbal presentation of information; adapt to diverse audiences; accurately document lab results and technical information.
• Coordinate with R&D Colorant lab personnel and supported teams regarding project status and needs.

Job description

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the GSC R&D Colorant Strategy team working on a variety of projects related to colorant dispersions raw material and product development. Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to, formulation, testing and product application of colorant dispersion and/or paint products. This position requires the candidate to communicate effectively both orally and in written reports.

Job duties include contact with other employees and access to confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. This role is not remote/hybrid. This role will report to Sherwin-Williams Morikis Global Technology Center located at 6745 Miller Road, Brecksville, OH 44141.

Minimum Requirements

• Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status).
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics ("STEM") field
• Basic knowledge of statistics and data analysis
• Must be able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to determine the difference between colors

Preferred Qualifications

• Masters Degree in Chemistry, Chemical or Material Engineering
• 0 - 2 years of experience in pigment dispersion and/or coating formulation, application, and testing
• Project leadership/management experience
