Job summary

Hormann LLC in Burgettstown, PA is seeking a Research and Development Technician to contribute to new product development of high speed doors. You will support engineering efforts, compile data, and help test prototypes and windload demonstrations.

The role requires an AS in Engineering or equivalent experience, strong CAD skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a collaborative engineering environment.

Qualifications

• AS in Engineering or 3 years relevant experience.
• Experience with 2D/3D CAD; CREO a plus.
• Strong MS Word and Excel skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of architectural testing and IBC is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in new product development of high speed fabric, sectional, and rolling steel doors
• Work with the engineering group to enhance product function, reliability and serviceability
• Compile and interpret data to maintain product specifications
• Fabricate and install prototype components
• Install doors for testing
• Install and maintain demonstration doors
• Conduct and document testing of doors and components
• Be the primary resource in preparing and conducting static and dynamic windload tests including maintenance of test equipment
• Act on Engineering Change Requests as needed

  The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.

Description

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in new product development of high speed fabric, sectional, and rolling steel doors
• Work with the engineering group to enhance product function, reliability and serviceability
• Compile and interpret data to maintain product specifications
• Fabricate and install prototype components
• Install doors for testing
• Install and maintain demonstration doors
• Conduct and document testing of doors and components

Required Skills and Experience

• Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel)
• Background in research and development or testing
• Knowledge of architectural testing and international building codes a plus
• Analytical problem solver
• Ability to operate a variety of tools and equipment
• Able to work with minimal supervision and accomplish goals in a timely manner
• Experience with 2d and 3d CAD; Pro-Engineer/CREO a plus
• Ability to troubleshoot and correct issues
• Ability to work in a group environment

Education

• AS in Engineering and an engineering discipline or 3 years of relevant experience

Department and Supervisor

The Research and Development Technician will be part of the Engineering Department and will report to the Engineering Manager
