Job summary

Barnstable Public Schools is seeking an Instructional Assistant for Barnstable High School in Barnstable, MA. The role supports an intensive skill-based educational program grounded in applied behavior analysis, with a 36.5-hour work week.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree preferred, experience in special education preferred, and the ability to manage behaviorally/physically challenging students. This position is under the PARAPROFESSIONAL contract, with duties assigned by the Partner

Responsibilities

• facilitates opportunities for generalization and maintenance of skills
• collects data on targeted skills
• communicates with parents of case student(s) via communication log
• relays parent information to Partner Classroom Teacher or Supervisor
• maintains student notebook in neat and orderly manner
• maintains student specific materials, reinforcers
• performs other duties as assigned by Partner Classroom Teacher or Supervisor within the scope of this job description
• maintains high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality
• implements curriculum and/or curriculum material as required
• graphs, sums student data
• participates in program meetings/trainings
• requests meetings with Partner Classroom Teacher and Specialists and Supervisor as needed
• meets with Partner Classroom Teacher for MBO meeting for case student(s)
• reviews progress on IEP goals
• participates in the writing of progress reports on case student(s)
• updates case student(s)’s guidelines
• contributes to the development of the IEP
• participates in the administration of curriculum based assessments as prescribed by the Partner Classroom Teacher

WORKS UNDER THE DIRECTION OF: Partner Classroom Teacher

SUPERVISED AND EVALUATED BY: Building Principal and/or Special Education Coordinator

Performance Responsibilities

• relays parent information to Partner Classroom Teacher or Supervisor


• maintains student notebook in neat and orderly manner


• maintains student specific materials, reinforcers

Weekly:

• graphs, sums student data

Quarterly:

Annually:

• contributes to the development of the IEP


• participates in the administration of curriculum based assessments as prescribed by the Partner Classroom Teacher

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: As per PARAPROFESSIONAL Contract:

• 5 (PK – upper elementary) or 6 (Intermediate & high school) weeks of 4 full days each week - 6 hour days


• 1 week of half days – 3 hour days


• and (first year only) 4-5 days of NECC training

SALARY: Per PARAPROFESSIONAL Contract
