Job Description
JOB GOAL
To implement an intensive skill based educational program that is grounded in the principles of applied behavioral analysis (ABA).
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Experience in special education preferred
- Physical condition capable of managing behaviorally/physically challenging students
- Such alternatives to the above as the Director of Special Education may deem appropriate and acceptable
WORKS UNDER THE DIRECTION OF: Partner Classroom Teacher
SUPERVISED AND EVALUATED BY: Building Principal and/or Special Education Coordinator
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily:
- ensures the safety of all students
- provides 30 hours of direct educational services
- incorporates specific educational objectives into the context of ongoing activities (as appropriate)
- facilitates opportunities for generalization and maintenance of skills
- collects data on targeted skills
- communicates with parents of case student(s) via communication log (when directed by Partner Classroom Teacher)
- relays parent information to Partner Classroom Teacher or Supervisor
- maintains student notebook in neat and orderly manner
- maintains student specific materials, reinforcers
- performs other duties as assigned by Partner Classroom Teacher or Supervisor within the scope of this job description
- maintains high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality
- implements curriculum and/or curriculum material as required
Weekly:
- graphs, sums student data
- participates in program meetings/trainings
- requests meetings with Partner Classroom Teacher and Specialists and Supervisor as needed
Monthly:
- meets with Partner Classroom Teacher for MBO (management by objective) meeting for case student(s)
- reviews progress on IEP goals
Quarterly:
- participates in the writing of progress reports on case student(s)
- updates case student(s)’s guidelines
Annually:
- contributes to the development of the IEP
- participates in the administration of curriculum based assessments as prescribed by the Partner Classroom Teacher
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
- 183 school year days @ 7.3 hours per day
- 15-18 ESY @ 4.5 hour days (depends on school calendar)
- first year only 4-5 days of NECC training
SALARY
Per PARAPROFESSIONAL Contract
