Job summary

LINK Fabricated Gear (LFG) is seeking an Electrical Estimator in New York to develop accurate time, material, and labour estimates for switchgear projects. You will collaborate with Engineering and Production to ensure designs align with capabilities and profitability.

Responsibilities include preparing competitive quotations, engaging with Sales and suppliers, and pursuing value engineering opportunities while maintaining rigorous documentation and cost databases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred (engineering, construction, business, or related field) OR relevant experience in electrical estimating, quotations, or project coordination
• 2+ years of experience in electrical distribution, switchgear, or manufacturing environment preferred
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and bid packages
• Strong math, analytical, and organizational skills with an eye for detail
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with ERP/MRP or estimation software is a plus
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with sales teams, suppliers, and customers
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the drive to learn, grow, and deliver results

• Quotations & Proposals: Generate professional, competitive proposals that meet customer requirements while supporting profitability and long-term partnerships
• Vendor & Supplier Relations: Issue RFQs, secure competitive pricing, negotiate with suppliers, and recommend alternatives when appropriate
• Customer Engagement: Work with Sales to strategize on bids, clarify requirements, and support customers through the quoting process
• Value Engineering: Identify opportunities to optimize designs and reduce costs without sacrificing quality or performance
• Tracking & Reporting: Maintain historical cost databases, supplier information, and ensure accurate documentation for all bids and proposals
• Follow-Up: Track open quotes, support transition from awarded projects, and provide input on post-project reviews.

Position Responsibilities
