C. S. McCrossan Inc. seeks a Quarry Manager to lead the safe, efficient operation of our Kingman quarry and aggregate facilities. You will oversee extraction, crushing, screening, quality control, and cost management while ensuring regulatory compliance and environmental stewardship.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of quarry, mining, aggregate production, or heavy construction operations experience.
• 3+ years of supervisory or management experience.
• Strong knowledge of aggregate production processes, crushing and screening operations, hot mix asphalt plant, and quarry equipment.
• Working knowledge of MSHA regulations, environmental compliance requirements, and operational best practices.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily quarry operations including drilling, blasting, excavation, crushing, screening, hot mix asphalt, and material processing activities.
• Promote and enforce all company safety policies, MSHA regulations, and safe work practices; conduct safety meetings, inspections, and follow-up corrective action.
• Develop and execute production plans to meet sales forecasts, inventory requirements, and customer demand.
• Ensure compliance with all environmental permits, air quality requirements, stormwater regulations, reclamation plans, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Maintain aggregate quality standards through regular testing, inspections, and process improvements.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance programs and equipment repairs to maximize uptime and reliability of fixed and mobile plant assets.
• Diagnose and resolve operational issues involving crushers, hot mix asphalt plants, screens, conveyors, wash plants, pumps, motors, hydraulic systems, and mobile equipment to minimize downtime.
• Assist maintenance personnel with troubleshooting, repairs, inspections, and emergency breakdown response when needed to restore production operations quickly.
• Supervise and develop quarry personnel; conduct performance evaluations, training, scheduling, coaching, and workforce planning.
• Develop and manage operating budgets; monitor production costs, fuel consumption, maintenance expenses, contractor costs, and overall profitability.
• Monitor and manage aggregate inventories, stockpile levels, and material availability to support operational and customer requirements.
• Manage relationships with drilling, blasting, maintenance, hauling, and other service providers.
• Maintain all required operational records, inspections, permits, and reports as required by MSHA, OSHA, environmental agencies, and company policy.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve production efficiency, material recovery, equipment utilization, and cost performance.
• Coordinate with sales and operations teams to ensure timely fulfillment of customer orders and resolution of product quality concerns.
• Assist with planning and execution of capital improvement projects, facility upgrades, equipment purchases, and expansion initiatives.

Job Overview

The Quarry Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of company quarry and aggregate production facilities. This role oversees daily extraction, crushing, screening, stockpiling, quality control, equipment utilization, regulatory compliance, equipment maintenance/repair, personnel leadership, production planning, and cost management. The Quarry Manager ensures production goals are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence. Work is performed primarily at quarry operations with frequent interaction with customers, vendors, contractors, and regulatory agencies.

Supervisory Responsibility

• This position is responsible for a team of 20 workers.
• Work is performed primarily in a quarry and aggregate production environment with regular exposure to dust, noise, heavy equipment traffic, blasting activities, and varying weather conditions.
• Frequent work in and around crushing plants, conveyor systems, stockpiles, processing facilities, and active mining areas.
• Regular interaction with equipment operators, mechanics, contractors, vendors, customers, and regulatory representatives.

Physical Demands

• Must occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds; frequent walking on uneven terrain, climbing stairs, ladders, and equipment access platforms.
• Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions and around active production operations.
• Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Position Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Geology, or related field preferred or 15-year work experience in aggregate production.
• 5+ years of quarry, mining, aggregate production, or heavy construction operations experience.
• 3+ years of supervisory or management experience.
• Strong knowledge of aggregate production processes, crushing and screening operations, hot mix asphalt plant, and quarry equipment.
• Working knowledge of MSHA regulations, environmental compliance requirements, and operational best practices.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and production reporting systems.

Preferred Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• MSHA Part 46 or Part 48 training and certification experience.
• Experience managing fixed crushing plants, conveyor systems, hot mix asphalt plants, and aggregate processing equipment.
• Background in drilling and blasting operations coordination.
• Experience with budgeting, capital planning, and production forecasting.
• Knowledge of quality control testing and aggregate specifications for construction materials.
• Experience in heavy civil, highway construction, or concrete aggregate production environments.
