Job summary

Atom Computing seeks a Subsystem Build & Test Manager to lead production and verification of optical, vacuum/mechanical, and electronic subsystems for our neutral-atom quantum computers. This hands-on leader ensures aligned, tested, and documented assemblies are released to System Integration & Test (SI&T).

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with optical bench assembly and alignment.
• Experience coordinating electronic or vacuum/mechanical subsystem production.
• Track record moving prototypes into controlled repeat builds.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily production of optical breadboards, bonded assemblies, vacuum/mechanical hardware, RF control cards, electronics chassis, and cable assemblies.
• Recruit, train, and qualify engineers and technicians; allocate build owners, benches, fixtures, and shared instruments.
• Collaborate with Engineering on first-of-a-kind builds and with Manufacturing Engineering & Quality to establish repeatable methods and test procedures.
• Ensure material kits, instructions, personnel, and calibrated equipment are ready; maintain safety practices.
• Provide hands-on direction for optical alignment, precision assembly, and troubleshooting; coordinate bonding, electronics, and vacuum work.
• Oversee subsystem measurements and acceptance tests, including optical, electronic, and mechanical/vacuum verification.
• Maintain build and test records; release subsystems to SI&T with traceable results.
• Track build progress, first-pass acceptance, rework, and cycle time; drive continuous improvement.
