Job summary

D-Wave Quantum Inc. in New Haven, CT, seeks a Software Engineer I to join the Systems Software Engineering team. You will contribute to platform infrastructure, backend services, and internal tools that enable access to and operation of quantum computers, under guidance from senior engineers.

You will collaborate across disciplines to build reliable, well-tested software, with emphasis on clean code, documentation, and maintainability, while growing your skills in a rapidly evolving field.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Python and at least one compiled language (C/C++, Rust, Go, or Java).
• Foundational software engineering practices: version control, testing, debugging, code quality.
• Strong problem-solving and teamwork in fast-paced environments.
• Ability to document and communicate technical concepts clearly.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and cloud platforms (AWS) is a plus.
• Experience with NumPy or similar scientific computing libraries is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers and scientists to implement solutions for quantum processor software.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain software for development and operation of quantum processors.
• Write clean, well-documented code and participate in reviews.
• Collaborate with embedded software developers on interfaces to instruments and control systems.
• Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and improve user experience.
• Contribute across the software lifecycle from design to deployment and support.
