Job summary

QuEra Computing, Inc. seeks a creative and collaborative Scientific Software Engineer to deliver the best performance out of neutral-atom quantum computers.

You will build the compiler pipeline with physicists from low-level hardware instructions to high-level languages using our internal toolchain. You will design a new DSL for atom shuttling and implement optimization methods for shuttling workflows, while collaborating with scientists and customers to meet diverse use cases.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Computer Science with focus on programming language design and compilation.
• Experience with Python semantics, Python type hints, CPython interpreter.
• Experience with at least one compiled language and its type system (C++, Julia, Rust, Haskell, OCaml).
• Experience with SSA intermediate representations-based compiler development.
• Knowledge of the full software development lifecycle (version control, code review, testing, CI/CD, logging, profiling, debugging, and documentation).

Responsibilities

• Develop and help maintain QuEra's compiler pipeline from circuit level quantum programs to QuEra's Pulse level IR using SSA-based infrastructure.
• Design a novel domain-specific language to program atom shuttling inside QuEra’s neutral atom quantum computers.
• Implement and improve optimization methods for shuttling workflows (routing/scheduling/planning heuristics, constraint-aware transformations, cost-model-driven decisions).
• Develop static analysis for both quantum circuit and atom shuttle languages.
• Communicate and collaborate with QuEra scientists and external customers to meet use case requirements.
