Job summary

QuEra Computing Inc. seeks a Scientific Software Engineer to develop tools for modeling neutral-atom quantum processors. You will bridge AMO theory, scientific computing, and quantum software, building simulation and analysis tools for noise, decoherence, and control validation.

The role emphasizes translating research-grade models into reliable, scalable software for scientists and engineers, collaborating with physicists and engineers to create reusable components and robust workflows.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience in physics, math, CS, or engineering.
  • Strong background in quantum dynamics, AMO physics or quantum information.
  • Experience simulating open quantum systems and driven-dissipative dynamics.
  • Proficient in Python, Julia, C++, or Rust for scientific computing.
  • Familiar with numerical linear algebra and HPC techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain scientific software to simulate neutral-atom quantum systems.
  • Implement numerical methods for quantum dynamics and open systems (Lindblad, trajectories, Krylov, Chebyshev).
  • Build production-grade tools modeling Rydberg interactions, motion, and decoherence effects.
  • Collaborate with physicists and engineers to create reusable software components.
  • Design workflows for benchmarking, calibration analysis, and performance modeling.
  • Optimize codes for accuracy and usability across system sizes.
  • Contribute to APIs, docs, tests, and validation suites.
  • Contribute parts to QuEra's virtualization platform to emulate hardware with AMO-informed noise.
