Quantum Research Scientist, Test & Measurement, AWS Center for Quantum Computing

Join to apply for the Quantum Research Scientist, Test & Measurement, AWS Center for Quantum Computing role at Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The AWS Center for Quantum Computing (CQC) in Pasadena, CA, is hiring a Quantum Research Scientist for the Test and Measurement group. You will join a multidisciplinary team working at the forefront of quantum computing to innovate for our customers.

Responsibilities include:

• Developing novel calibration and optimization routines
• Testing and validating these routines on processors in cryogenic environments
• Automating routines to verify processor performance at scale
• Contributing to quantum error correction demonstrations

You will lead high-impact research projects intersecting with our engineering roadmap, requiring strong engineering principles, resourcefulness, organization, and communication skills.

Daily tasks:

• Collaborate with software engineers to develop and test calibration tools
• Work with system engineers to set component requirements
• Evaluate and improve logical performance with quantum error correction theorists

Qualifications:

Basic:

• PhD in physics, applied physics, electrical engineering, or related field
• Experience automating and optimizing multi-qubit device calibrations
• Knowledge of qubit benchmarking and tomographic protocols
• Proficiency in scientific programming
• Track record of delivering cross-team projects

Preferred:

• Experimental experience with superconducting qubits and microwave control
• Familiarity with quantum error correction hardware implementation
• Experience simulating quantum systems or electromagnetic simulations
