The Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State University in State College, PA is seeking an analytical and detail-oriented Research and Development Engineer for the Quantum Research Department. Role includes CST-based simulations, assessing topics for sponsors, and exploring cross-domain physics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science with relevant experience.
• Proven ability to perform numerical simulations and EM modeling.
• Experience summarizing literature and producing white papers or reports.

Responsibilities

• Run simulations with CST and related EM/multi-physics tools for sensors.
• Assess topics for government sponsors via literature reviews.
• Explore cross-domain physics topics, including X-ray physics as needed.
• Occasionally perform hands-on optics experiments.
• Script data processing and generate plots.
• Prepare reports and slide presentations with findings.
