Description

Amazon's Center for Quantum Computing in Pasadena, CA, is looking to hire a Hardware Development Engineer. You will join a multi-disciplinary team of experimental and theoretical physicists, materials scientists, and hardware and software engineers working at the front‑of‑the‑line of quantum computing. We are looking for candidates who exemplify strong engineering principles, resourcefulness, a bias for action, exceptional problem‑solving abilities, and really good communication skills. Working effectively within a team environment is essential. A robust background in physics or engineering is required. Effective day‑to‑day scripting skills are also critical for this role. Practical laboratory experience and a comprehensive grasp of experimental techniques and instrumentation are also necessary.

Key job responsibilities

A successful candidate will play a key role in our accelerated learning initiatives, requiring adept coordination with cross‑functional stakeholders, meticulous execution of scientific measurements under established test standards, the production of clear and accurate documentation, streamlining of system integration, throughput optimization, and autonomous maintenance of assigned instruments. An ability to build, run, and debug automated measurement sequences is a key responsibility of this role.

Basic Qualifications

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
