Job summary

QuEra Computing seeks a Software Engineer (QPU SW) to join the QPU SW Engineering team in Boston, MA. You will design, implement, and maintain software that orchestrates and controls our quantum hardware stack, from real-time laser/FPGAs control to system-wide configuration and diagnostics.

You will work closely with physicists and hardware engineers to enable precise, reliable quantum operations, build tooling for automation and testing, and participate in architecture decisions and code

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience developing software for hardware control, embedded or distributed systems.
• Strong programming in Python and/or C/C++, with hardware interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet).
• Experience with real-time systems or hardware-in-the-loop control environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement software for orchestrating quantum experiments, including pulse sequence generation and device coordination.
• Develop APIs and middleware connecting hardware control layers with higher-level orchestration software.
• Contribute to diagnostics, calibration, tooling, and system state management.
