Job summary

QuEra Computing, Inc. in Boston, MA, is seeking a Scientific Software Engineer - Developer Experience to shape DX for a quantum software stack. You will influence language design, IR architecture, and APIs while collaborating with the compiler team and Python SDK layers.

You’ll prototype early error messages, contribute to the error model, and help define standard libraries as Bloqade’s ecosystem evolves. Equity grants accompany base compensation.

Qualifications

• Experience building developer‑facing tooling: compiler frontends, LSP servers, SDK APIs, or notebook tooling.
• Comfortable reading and writing Rust and Python; willing to work in the IR layer.
• Strong opinions on what ‘good’ errors look like and improving them before shipping.

Responsibilities

• Shape foundation decisions: bring a DX perspective to language design, IR, and API reviews.
• Prototype early: build error messages, visualizations, and workflow sketches to stress-test decisions.
• Contribute to the error model: define how errors are represented, surfaced, and attributed.
• Create visualizations: circuit diagrams, error plots, and result analysis tooling.
• Improve developer workflow: CLI, error messages, and feedback from Bloqade program to hardware.
• Help decide what becomes a first-class primitive and write the initial libraries.
