Job summary

QuEra Computing, Inc. in Boston, MA, seeks a Control System Engineer/SRE to integrate and maintain hardware and software control systems for our quantum computer stack.

You will collaborate with software, physics, hardware, and test engineers to install, upgrade, test, and troubleshoot systems in development and production environments. Responsibilities include building reliable, scalable infrastructure, implementing automation, and maintaining observability and incident response.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in CS, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5-8 years of experience in Network SQA, Systems Engineering, SRE, or infrastructure roles.
• Experience with Linux and Windows administration and network operations.
• Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash, Go) and familiarity with Docker, Git, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and infrastructure-as-code (Ansible, Terraform).
• Familiarity with observability/logging stacks (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK).

Responsibilities

• Implement, maintain and test hardware and software control systems.
• Define procedures for quantum computer operations.
• Manage infrastructure including HIL setups, containers (K8S), routers, switches.
• Automate provisioning and orchestration of compute systems used in controlling and testing, simulations.
• Collaborate with software and test teams to deploy DevOps tools.
• Maintain artifact repositories, test dashboards, and health metrics.
• Enforce access control and lab operations best practices.
• Support incident response and root cause analysis for CI/CD failures or system issues.
• Implement monitoring and alerting across embedded systems and test benches.
• Work with CI/CD pipelines for building, testing, and deploying software and firmware across the quantum control stack.
