Job summary

Jobtailor in New Haven, CT is seeking a senior software/QEC engineer to develop, simulate, and validate quantum error-correcting codes in collaboration with physicists and QEC specialists.

You will implement robust software components, integrate them into D-Wave’s software stack, and write comprehensive tests, while mentoring teammates and upholding high coding standards.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Physics, Chemistry, CS, EE or related field with a quantum computing specialization.
• 5+ years of hands-on software development with C, C++, Python or similar.
• 3+ years in quantum computing or information, with at least one modern SDK.
• Proficient with Git, build tools, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience applying unit/integration/end-to-end testing.
• Strong problem solving, detail oriented, collaborative team player.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Work with stakeholders on both near‑ and long‑term quantum computing applications, including error‑correction resource estimation for practical problems.
• Write clean, well‑documented code and conduct thorough code reviews to ensure code quality and maintainability.
• Provide software mentorship and guidance on best practices and help drive adherence to software best practices.

Requirements

• MS or PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with a specialization in quantum computing.
• 5+ years of hands‑on software development experience with C, C++, Python, or another general‑purpose compiled programming language.
• 3+ years of quantum computing or quantum information experience, including at least one modern quantum SDK such as Qiskit, Q#, CUDA‑Q, or Stim.
• Competence with Git version control, build tools, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Use of software testing principles and practices, including unit testing, integration testing, and end‑to‑end testing.
• Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts.
