Qualifications

  • Coursework or research in quantum algorithms, quantum information theory, computational complexity, and linear algebra.
  • Experience performing independent theoretical research (coursework projects, thesis, or publications).
  • Experience with at least one general-purpose programming language (Python).
  • Interest in IBM's fault-tolerant quantum computing roadmap, simulation of physical systems, differential equations, and learning/testing.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate a well-defined research question in quantum algorithms for fault-tolerant quantum computation.
  • Characterize potential quantum speed-ups by comparing algorithms with state-of-the-art classical methods.
  • Discuss connections to implementations with colleagues in compilation and error correction.
  • Document and present findings for peer-reviewed publication or conference submission.
