Job summary

IBM Quantum seeks a Quantum Algorithm Engineer Intern to join our research team and contribute to developing quantum algorithms for near-term quantum computers. You will work at the intersection of quantum algorithms, software, and hardware, applying Qiskit and the IBM Quantum stack to both real processors and simulations.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Ph.D. or Master's in Physics, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field with quantumfocus.
  • Strong understanding of quantum computing concepts and algorithms.
  • Hands-on experience implementing quantum algorithms with Python and at least one SDK (preferably Qiskit).
  • Experience with numerical computing and scientific programming in Python.

Responsibilities

  • Research and implement quantum algorithms for practical problems.
  • Develop and optimize quantum circuits using Qiskit and the IBM Quantum stack.
  • Execute experiments on real quantum processors and analyze results.
  • Benchmark algorithms using classical baselines and simulators.
  • Investigate circuit optimization, transpilation, and error mitigation techniques.
  • Assess scalability and bottlenecks of quantum algorithms.
  • Contribute to research prototypes and publications.
  • Collaborate with researchers and engineers across quantum domains.
