Job summary

IBM Quantum in Chicago is seeking a Quantum Algorithm Engineer to advance our quantum information science program and deliver practical quantum solutions. You will design and optimize algorithms, model performance, and implement production-ready software across the IBM Quantum stack.

You will work with researchers and engineers across the IBM Quantum Network to demonstrate quantum advantage, publish outcomes, and contribute to scalable, reliable quantum software and hardware integrations.

Qualifications

• PhD required or equivalent research experience in physics or computing.
• 5+ years hands-on experience in quantum computing and algorithms.
• Strong programming skills in Python and exposure to quantum software stacks.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize quantum algorithms for near-term hardware.
• Perform system-level performance modeling across IBM Quantum stack.
• Develop production-ready software enabling research and demonstrations.
• Lead high-visibility technology demonstrations with the IBM Quantum Network.
• Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and external partners to advance roadmaps.
