American Century Investments offers a 10‑week Quantitative Research internship in New York City or Kansas City. The program is for currently enrolled graduate students and runs June 2 through August 6, requiring coding skills and exposure to large financial datasets.

You will be mentored by a quantitative researcher, lead a project to enhance investment methods, and gain hands-on experience with diverse datasets and tools.

Role Summary

The Quantitative Research Group at American Century Investments is looking for a sharp, critical thinker with a passion for investing, analysis and big datasets. The work you do will directly contribute to enhancing the team’s research capabilities and security selection algorithms.

This program is for currently enrolled graduate students.

• Location: this onsite position will be based out of our New York City or Kansas City office.
• Program dates: June 2nd - August 6th (10 weeks)
• Work schedule: 40 hours/week - Monday-Friday (8am-5pm)

How You Will Make An Impact

• Be mentored by a quantitative researcher and interact closely with a dynamic group of quantitative investment professionals.
• Lead a project aimed at improving our existing investment approach and/or analyze new opportunities.
• Gain real-world experience by working with a variety of financial datasets.

What You Bring To The Team (Required)

• This role is intended for currently enrolled Master’s students studying Quantitative Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, or other related disciplines.
• Understanding of, and interest in, global capital markets and investing.
• Coding experience is required.
• Ability to communicate technical findings and work within a team environment.
• Most of all, we are looking for someone who is curious and eager to learn about data-driven underpinnings of quantitative investing, and all the fun and challenging problems that go along with it.

Additional Assets (Preferred)

• Knowledge of Python or R.
• Experience with large-scale company financial data.

For New York based, the salary for this role is $30/hour. Actual offers are based on various factors including but not limited to a candidate’s location, skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training. This position is eligible for cash incentive providing the potential to earn more.
