Quant Developer / Quantitative Software Engineer - DeFi WealthTech Startup
Location: New York, NY (you can work from home 3x/week)
The company's product is at the intersection of decentralized finance (DeFi) and modern wealth tech.
The company has 8 employees and 4 engineers. It has raised seed funding and is expecting a larger round of seed funding soon.
The company will pay up to $250k in salary, plus equity which could be very lucrative.
Job Responsibilities:
- Working as the only quant on the team.
- Building retail-focused quantitative strategies, working with cutting-edge technology, and contributing to a product that uses every piece of the crypto/DeFi stack.
- Working directly with the CEO, who previously worked in high frequency trading.
Qualifications:
- Strong in Python, TypeScript, and systems fundamentals.
- Ability to learn unfamiliar domains quickly.
- Experience building onchain / blockchain strategies like Basis Trades, Funding Rate Arbitrage, Lending/Borrowing/Looping, and more.
- Experience managing capital risk in the past, and having built systems to observe and control risk when markets are volatile.
- Deep onchain knowledge, with thorough understanding of how swaps, lending, AMMs, and perps work technically and economically.
Nice to have:
- Strong Python and TypeScript skills, with an emphasis on type-safe boundaries, domain-driven architecture, and correctness in financial systems.
- Experience building production systems with Cloudflare Workers, Workflows, Durable Objects, Queues, R2, D1, KV, Pipelines, service bindings, and scheduled triggers. Comfortable designing stateful, event-driven, edge-native systems and managing infrastructure through Wrangler and Alchemy.
- Familiarity with Viem/Wagmi, ZeroDev Kernel smart accounts, session-key permissions, SIWE/Privy authentication, and bundler/paymaster infrastructure. EVM experience is expected; Solana/SVM and cross-chain execution experience is a strong plus.
- Experience with Hono, tRPC, Zod, durable workflows, event-driven architecture, and realtime systems. Ability to design idempotent, replay-safe execution paths across distributed Cloudflare services.
- Comfortable with agent-native engineering, using coding agents such as Codex or Claude Code for codebase research, implementation, testing, and review—while maintaining ownership of architecture, security, and correctness.
