Job summary

Franklin Templeton in Pasadena, CA is seeking a Software Engineer with finance knowledge to build and support systems for investment solutions, risk, and regulatory capital. You will collaborate with business stakeholders and technology teams to deliver production-grade software, work on fixed income risk tools, and leverage Python, SQL, and Linux in a hybrid work environment.

The role requires 5+ years in investment management, understanding traded securities, and large financial datasets.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a technical role within an Investment Management environment.
  • Strong programming skills with proficiency in Python, SQL and Linux.
  • A working knowledge of traded securities and either portfolio management or risk management is desirable.
  • Experience working with large financial datasets.
  • Degree in either Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or other quantitative discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain production-grade fixed income risk solutions used by the Investment Solutions team for customized client needs.
  • Work with the Investment Solutions team to understand their requirements and translate those needs into software
  • Collaborate with technology teams to deliver maintainable and production ready software solutions.
  • Support the business teams as needed to ensure the full potential of systems and data is realized.

Role Summary

We are seeking a Software Engineer with a solid grasp of finance and investment concepts, to build and support systems used to create investment solutions for clients. This role will involve working directly with business stakeholders and on systems that support portfolio risk, scenario analysis, and regulatory capital. An ownership mindset, curiosity, and a collaborative approach are valued and considered traits for success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain production-grade fixed income risk solutions used by the Investment Solutions team for customized client needs.
  • Work with the Investment Solutions team to understand their requirements and translate those needs into software
  • Collaborate with technology teams to deliver maintainable and production ready software solutions.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical role within an Investment Management environment
  • Strong programming skills with proficiency in Python, SQL and Linux
  • A working knowledge of traded securities and either portfolio management or risk management is desirable.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of portfolio risk and scenario analysis
  • Experience working with Aladdin.
  • Additional post graduate qualifications such as MFE or CFA.
Work Schedule & Location
  • This role will work a hybrid schedule 3 days/week in our Pasadena, CA office.
