Security Benefit is searching for an experienced Quantitative Developer to join our Derivatives team. SB associates are working a weekly hybrid schedule with both remote and on-site work. This position will be based in our New York office.

What Does the Job Look Like?

The position is responsible for design, development, testing, and maintenance of software systems, databases, application integrations and valuation models across the derivatives and Investments portfolios. The position will work with derivatives trading, operations teams and collaborate with internal IT teams, technology/software vendors for system implementations.

  • Participate in Design, development, and testing of software solutions from Quantitative Trading business requirements and/or application specifications to packaged custom software.
  • Contribute Automation and refactoring of existing system and develop future software solutions
  • Assist in integrations between various internal and external systems including but not limited to SQL databases and financial analytics platforms such as Matlab, Bloomberg.
  • Help to create technical design and support documentation as required by software development life cycle
  • Work with senior developers and technology leaders to create and maintain change requests and follow the change management process
  • Work with quantitative analysts in the creation, implementation and maintenance of quantitative models into the production environment within SBC’s Information Technology infrastructure.
  • Develop systems and tools for trading and valuation of derivatives portfolio using UI and server-side programming technologies
  • Collaborate with quantitative technology director and business leaders in the creation and ongoing development of trading and hedging software solutions.
  • Position being on the main trading floor, extensive interaction is expected with traders, developers, quants and middle office professionals

Who Are You?

  • Master’s degree in computer science, financial engineering, financial mathematics, risk management, mathematics, quantitative finance, or related concentration.
  • Experience or professional knowledge in quantitative analysis, statistics, financial mathematics
  • Understanding or experience in sql and no-sql databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB
  • Experience in a scripting, objected-oriented programming languages such as C#, Python, Matlab, Go
  • Experience or knowledge in using development tools such as visual studio code, PyCharm
  • Experience or good knowledge in AWS Cloud
  • Experience or good knowledge in web technologies
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills along with presentation skills
  • Ideal candidate will be intellectually curious, possessing a strong desire to understand derivatives related products and have a passion for the financial markets and technology
  • Ideal candidate will be well organized, independent, entrepreneurial, assertive, self-motivated, detail oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects

Preferred:

  • Experience in Real time trading, futures execution and hedging systems
  • FRM or CFA Certification preferred but not mandatory

  • Employees are eligible for an annual incentive bonus designed to reward for performance.
  • The salary range for New York City Metro Area is $103,000 to $143,000. Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location and will be reflected in the candidate’s offer letter.
