Job summary

Sanmina is seeking a detail oriented Quality Test Technician for our Fremont, CA location. The role bridges quality inspection with technical testing, driving product excellence from incoming materials to final assembly.

The candidate will set up and perform tests of complex electromechanical systems, identify defects, and resolve technical issues on the floor while adhering to exact engineering specs and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technician certification in electronics or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of related experience in electromechanical testing and quality control.
• Experience operating electronic test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes) and measurement tools.

Responsibilities

• Performs set-up, testing, and troubleshooting of circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies.
• Executes incoming, in-process, and final quality inspections using standard measurement tools.
• Completes needed rework and repairs, ensuring reworked assemblies pass QC verifications.
• Documents diagnostic findings, logs defect data, and assists in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Interprets blueprints, schematics, drawings, and diagrams to develop test specs and QA procedures.
• Works with engineers to conduct quality experiments, perform audits, and assist in calibration of test equipment.
• Ensures all testing and quality operations adhere to safety standards and ESD protocols.

The Sanmina Fremont facility is a full-service enclosure systems solution manufacturing plant.

Job Purpose

Sanmina is looking for detail oriented and dedicated Quality Test Technician for our Fremont, CA location. The Quality Test Technician is a hybrid role bridging quality inspection with technical testing, this role drives product excellence from incoming materials to final assembly.

In this role, you will set up and perform tests of complex electromechanical systems, identifying defects, resolving complex technical issues on the floor, executing precise test, and ensuring strict adherence to exact engineering specifications and safety standards.

Nature Of Duties/Responsibilities

• Performs the set-up, testing, and troubleshooting of circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies using standard test equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes) and test software/firmware.
• Executes incoming, in-process, and final quality inspections using standard measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges, and scopes) to ensure products meet exact specifications.
• Completes necessary rework and repairs based on diagnostic findings, while ensuring and documenting that all reworked assemblies pass rigorous quality control verifications.
• Identifies non-conforming materials, initiates Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and logs defect data. Prepares technical reports summarizing findings and assists in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Interprets blueprints, schematics, drawings, and diagrams to determine and help develop comprehensive test specifications and quality assurance procedures.
• Works closely with engineers to conduct quality experiments, perform audits, and assist in the selection, set-up, and calibration of specialized test equipment.
• Ensures all testing, rework, and quality operations are conducted in strict adherence to safety standards and ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protocols.

Education And Experience

• Associate Degree or Technician Certification in Electronics, Semiconductor Technology, Electromechanical Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of related industry experience, ideally in a role that blends electromechanical testing, troubleshooting, and quality control inspection.
• Proven experience operating electronic test equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes) as well as quality measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).
• Strong ability to read and accurately interpret electronic schematics, mechanical blueprints, assembly drawings, and technical manuals.
• Experience documenting diagnostic findings, logging defect data, and maintaining accurate written and computerized records (e.g., initiating NCRs
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize and plan work effectively in a dynamic production environment.
• Self-directed, highly dependable, and motivated with strong teamwork and communication skills.

Additional Qualifications (Not Required)

• Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
• Some previous experience in QC inspection for SMT (Surface Mount Technology), PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly), or mechanical components.
• Familiarity with automated inspection tools or precision measurement instruments.
• Demonstrated ability to closely collaborate with engineering teams on experiments, root cause analysis, and process improvements.
• Basic knowledge of workplace productivity software (Microsoft Office or Google Workspace) for reporting and data entry.
