Job summary

VMRD, Inc. seeks a Quality Technologist to perform diagnostic assays and assess conformance to quality specs and regulatory requirements in the on-site QC laboratory in Pullman, WA.

You will test products using qPCR, ELISA, AGID, IFA and LFD, document results, calibrate equipment, maintain COAs, manage materials, support cross-functional teams, and help drive continuous improvement while staying audit-ready.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in sciences or 4+ years of equivalent experience.
  • Experience in a diagnostic laboratory setting is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of QA and regulatory expectations in biotech.

Responsibilities

  • Follows SOPs and regulatory guidelines; develops and updates SOPs as needed.
  • Performs product testing (qPCR, ELISA, AGID, IFA, LFD) with proper documentation.
  • Generates and archives data; calibrates and maintains equipment.
  • Creates QC documents (COAs, worksheets) and manages inventory.
  • Coordinates with other departments to meet deadlines; maintains audit readiness.

Job Title: Quality Technologist

Type: FT, Non-Exempt

Department: Quality

Pay Range: $22-$28 per hour

Job Summary:

The Quality Technologist performs diagnostic assays to assess conformance to company quality specifications and regulatory requirements for products manufactured and provided by VMRD. The work is performed onsite within the Quality Control (QC) laboratory.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Follows all policies, protocols, regulatory guidelines, and SOPs; Develops and updates SOPs as needed
  • Efficiently and accurately performs product testing (such as qPCR, ELISA, AGID, IFA, LFD), including completing proper documentation
  • Generates, performs preliminary analysis, and properly archives data
  • Calibrates, operates, and maintains critical equipment
  • Creates and edits QC documents such as COAs and worksheets
  • Maintains inventory of critical raw materials and supplies necessary for the lab
  • Proactively coordinates and prioritizes with other departments to meet customer-driven deadlines
  • Proficiency in performing all regular QC functions independently, after training
  • At all times, maintains audit readiness of QC's physical and electronic records
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams toward achieving business objectives and financial targets by addressing/improving Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Growth
  • Contributes to a culture of continuous process improvement
  • Assist with other duties as needed
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Treats others with mutual respect and regard
  • Completes work with accuracy, thoroughness, and a high level of attention to detail while following detailed SOPs
  • Decisiveness and the ability to work quickly through simultaneous tasks; ability to adjust priorities daily within a dynamic environment
  • Interest in continual learning with base-level knowledge in molecular biology and immunology
  • High degree of scientific understanding, curiosity, and dedication to scientific rigor
  • Solid problem-solving abilities and lab technique (e.g. pipetting, performing dilutions, making buffers).
  • Written and verbal communication competency
  • Exhibits constancy and reliability; produces dependable work results
  • Working knowledge of USDA-CVB, GLP, 9CFR Part 113, and other applicable regulatory bodies
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and adaptability to other software
Desired Qualifications and Experiences:
  • 3+ years of experience with quality or manufacturing roles within the biotech industry, ideally focused on diagnostic assays using qPCR and ELISA
  • Experience with QT9™ QMS software and laboratory information management software systems
Education, Licenses and Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in the sciences preferred or 4+ years of equivalent experience
  • Experience working within a diagnostic laboratory setting
Physical Requirements for the Job:
  • Prolonged periods of standing and moving to perform benchwork mixed with seated computer work at a desk
