Job description

We are looking for a talented Quality Technician (Romer) – 1st Shift to join our team specializing in Quality for our Cummins Inc. facility in Mineral Point, WI.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
  • Ensuring Product Quality : By verifying the final quality of products on the production line, you will ensure that only products meeting technical specifications are delivered.
  • Identifying Defects : Compare the physical characteristics of components, materials, equipment, and products to technical specifications to identify and address defects.
  • Using Measurement Techniques : Utilize both basic and complex measurement techniques and equipment to separate products that do not meet the desired technical specifications.
  • Documenting Non-Conforming Products : Accurately document products that do not meet technical specifications using specified systems, ensuring traceability and accountability.
  • Training Others : Train colleagues in the use of measurement equipment, segregation of non-conforming products, and proper documentation, enhancing overall team competency.
  • Adhering to Quality Standards : Follow the company's defined norms and standards of quality, ensuring consistency and reliability in product quality.
  • Supporting Continuous Improvement : Work under moderate supervision to continuously improve processes and practices, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the production line.
  • Enhancing Team Performance : By ensuring products meet technical specifications and training others, you will help maintain high standards and improve the overall performance of the team.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
  • Effective Communication Skills : Develop and deliver multi-mode communications that clearly convey an understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
  • Decision-Making Abilities : Make good and timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward, ensuring progress and efficiency.
  • Measurement Science Expertise : Analyze measurement processes to identify and quantify sources of measurement uncertainty in various fields such as Chemical, Dimensional, Electrical, Mechanical, Optical, Radiation, and Physical metrology.
  • Quality Process Management : Apply quality tools and methods (e.g., APQP, FMEA, PPAP, SPC, Capability studies, Process Audit, inspection, test) proficiently to ensure the quality of products, processes, and services.
  • Laboratory Management Skills : Lead technical resources and manage the business aspects of a laboratory, ensuring compliance with relevant certifications and accreditations while controlling both technical and business operations.
Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
  • Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through training or on-the-job experience.

  • Component and assembled part layout in accordance to print.
  • Finished goods audit.
  • Line Romer for quality concerns.
  • Support Calibration System (Inspection, Test Equipment, Functional Gages)
  • Assist with development of JQA's (Job Quality Analysis Sheets)
  • Document & record data collected on inspection forms legibly.
  • Keep work area safe and clean (5S- Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)
  • Promote quality workmanship that meets and/or exceeds customer expectations.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Team Leader.
